LATIN-AFRO FEST II

The Latin-Afro Fest II is a 4-day contemporary multi-disciplinary arts festival presented by the Latino Canadian Cultural Association and CANORAA that shows the fusion between the different cultures and roots of the Latin American and African artists involved and the influence of the multicultural society where they work and reside. The artists' starting point is their own cultural background and experiences, going through the discovery first, and then the sharing of other cultures, to finally, develop and transform them into a new and original product.

This multidisciplinary festival presents high quality artists within their different disciplines. This Festival will include Music, Dance, Video, DJs and a Visual Exhibition. Latin American art and culture have received many influences from different cultures all over the centuries such as the African influence in music over Salsa, merengue, Brazilian samba, Uruguayan candombe and Cuban music (the son). Also over the visual arts the African influence is evident in Brazil, all the Caribbean and Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru.

The LCCA is a non-for-profit organization with a mandate to promote the contemporary arts practice of Latino Canadian artists. Our organization recognizes the cosmopolitan nature of our city, Toronto. Our goal is to integrate our community into active participation and collaboration with various cultural workers and diverse cultural communities in our city.

CANORAA is a non-profit association functioning as a presenter of African artists working professionally in Canada. CANORAA wants to present and promote contemporary African artists to Canadian audiences, increasing and diversifying their exposure.
